When connecting the printer directly, it is possible to share the printer with other computers using a simple form of networking known as locally shared networking. When setting up the printer, connect the printer either before or when prompted during the installation of the printer software.

Click Next to install the printer directly to the computer. Select Typical Installation to install the most common drivers and components. Click Next.
Specify a name for the printer in the Printer Name text box and click Next. If the printer needs to be shared, click the Share as radio button and specify a share name. Otherwise, go to the next step by clicking Next.
Connect the USB cable from the computer to the printer. Ensure the printer is turned on. Click Skip if users prefer to connect to the printer at a later date. Upon USB cable connection, the Looking for new hardware screen disappears automatically and the installation proceeds. Click Finish to complete the installation of the printer software. Use the Next Steps screen to run the Web registration, print a test page, or view the readme file.
Install the printer software for Windows - Embedded Wired Network If the printer has network capability, it can be shared in a network environment by connecting it directly to the network.

Installing the printing software on Client Computers After the drivers have been installed on the computer that is acting as the print server, the printing functionality can be shared.
Individual Windows users who want to use the network printer must install the software on their computers clients.
